Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy is an analytical technique that can be used to identify the chemical composition and structure of various organic and inorganic molecules from a solid or liquid state. It is a powerful tool used in chemistry to provide both quantitative and qualitative data.

The sample to be analyzed is dissolved in a liquid and placed in a magnetic field. A radio frequency is sent through it, exciting the nuclei. When the radio frequency pulse is stopped, the nuclei return to their original state.
